Abstract

The subject of our study was an anthropological collection from the excavations of the 1980s of the Khorezm archaeological and ethnographic expedition of the Institute of Ethnography of the AS USSR (supervisor L.M. Levina). It includes remains of more than 600 burials dating from the end of the 1st millennium BC. till the 8th century AD. The study using the methods of paleodemography, geometric morphometrics, osteometry and paleopathology allows us to draw some conclusions about the life quality of the population of the Eastern Aral Sea region in different chronological periods, as well as to assess the impact and possible vectors of migration flows that influenced its structural formation.
