Abstract

The article is devoted to the Neolithic Turgai. The purpose of the work is to summarize some of the results of research conducted in the late 20th – early 21st century. The main population of Turgai in the Neolithic era are the tribes of the Mahandzhar culture. In the course of the study of the Mahandzhar culture, the foundations of the life support of the Neolithic population of Turgai were reconstructed (agriculture, manufacture of stone products, pottery, etc.). At the same time, data from isotopic, petrographic and binocular and paleozoological analyses were involved. The article also highlights the issues of the origin of the Mahandzhar culture, possible ways of settling the Mahandzhar population, contacts of the Mahandzhar population with the Neolithic tribes of the Trans-Urals and issues related to the study of the final Neolithic of Turgai. Since ancient times, the territory of the Turgai trough has been the so-called “corridor” between Central Asia and the Urals, Siberia; that is the contact zone and is an important part of the migration processes that took place in Eurasia.
