Construction of three-dimensional models of the internal structure of the mound № 4 of the Kairat complex

The study of cultural heritage sites without violating their structure and integrity is the main priority in modern archaeology. Modern geophysical equipment makes it possible to use non-destructive research methods at the preliminary stages of the study of historical monuments (until the start of the excavations). Engineering geophysical methods are successfully used by scientists from England, Russia, Egypt and Mexico. Since 2014 KAPE LLC, together with Kazakhstan’s archaeologists, is successfully conducting research on burial mounds using EGM. The high efficiency of research makes it possible to reduce the time and cost of work. In this publication, specific examples demonstrate the possibilities and limits of applicability of the methods of modern shallow geophysics in archaeological research.
