In the south of Karatau, the mounds of the Kanglin period are quite well studied. The research results have been introduced into scientific circulation, many scientific articles and monographs have been published. These works provide information about the funeral tradition, material culture and worldview of the representatives of the Kangly tribe, but do not cover the issue of places of worship. It should not be forgotten that at all times, before burial, during burial and after burial, certain rituals are performed. The purpose of the article is to determine, according to archaeological data, cult places dedicated to the spirits of the ancestors of the Kangly people. As a result, taking into account that the catacomb graves are convenient for entry and exit, it is suggested that the catacombs are not only a burial place, but also served as a cult object.
