Abstract

In northwestern Armenia (Shirak Province), anthropological material was obtained from the burial ground of Jrapi during rescue archaeological excavations conducted from 2013 to 2022. Female burials dating to the 8th–6th centuries BC contained weapons. The research was carried out through visual examination of skeletons and radiography. The article lists the types of injuries recorded on the skeletal remains. The trauma is categorized as either antemortem or perimortem. The nature of the injuries (head trauma, arrow wounds, and weapon-inflicted injuries) indicates violent events that caused severe harm or death to these women. This evidence points to the militarized nature of the local population.
