Research by S. Akhinzhanov on the archаeology of Otrar

Abstract

The article provides a brief description of the activities of the famous scientist, a prominent representative of the archaeological science of Kazakhstan in the second half of the twentieth century, S. Akhinzhanov, on the study of various issues of the archaeology of medieval Otrar. In the course of writing an article about the life and work of the scientist, the memoirs of one of the students of the historical faculty of Kazakh State University, to whom S. Akhinzhanov gave a lecture course “Monuments of medieval nomads of Kazakhstan” in the 80s of the last century, were used. The research of the scientist in the study of tamga on ceramic dishes, a heating system of the kan type, about the “Otrar catastrophe”, about excavations at various sites of Otrar is considered.
