The Karagayly monument is the first large settlement found on the caravan route going west from Sarayshyk. It is located 21 km west of the medieval settlement Sarayshyk. In 2022, it was discovered as a result of an archaeological expedition of the Saraishyk State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. The earliest information about the ruins on the river Ashchysay (Solyanka) can be found in the travel notes of the topographer, staff captain A.E. Alekseev for 1861. At the moment, thanks to the primary research of the Karagayly monument, significant material has been collected about the ancient inhabitants of this region, about their economy, customs and traditions.
