GNU\Linux operating systems for archaeologist

The article provides a brief description and recommendations for getting started with Linux, designed for those who are not familiar with this operating system. The purpose of this publication is to familiarize users with the features and benefits of this operating system. Perhaps some comparisons will help the reader make his choice from the GNU\ Linux family. As a result of experience of the author, the article provides a list of software useful for archaeological research.
